UMD's onsite childcare facilities, Children's Place and Preschool at the Park, provides care while parents are at work or study. (Children's Place maintains a lengthy waiting list, with the wait for care typically taking 12-18 months)
Child Care Aware of Minnesota provides a free online search tool for finding a licensed child care and early education program as well as cost of care information (please refer to the Outstate costs to most accurately reflect Duluth's market)
The U of M's benefits package offers a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account, allowing households to pay for some childcare expenses before taxes
The Minnesota Department of Education offers Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE), a parenting education program for all Minnesota families with children ages of birth to kindergarten entrance
The State of Minnesota offers the Statewide Enrollment Options Program, more commonly known as "Open Enrollment", which allows a student to attend a school in a district outside the district in which they live
